The collaboration aims to streamline floodplain management processes, improve compliance with federal regulations and provide residents with greater access to flood risk information.
According to Raleigh Stormwater, key services offered include:
- Automated error detection: Forerunner's platform will assist in identifying and correcting common errors in elevation certificates, ensuring compliance with FEMA and local floodplain regulations.
- Public-facing flood risk portal: A new online portal allows residents to view property-specific flood risk data, including elevation information and compliance status, empowering them to take proactive measures to reduce flood risk. Residents can now access and share elevation certificates (if on file with the city) related to their properties, facilitating informed decisions regarding flood insurance and property improvements.
- Streamlined communication: The partnership will enhance coordination between residents, surveyors, and city officials, improving the efficiency of floodplain management and disaster response efforts.
