Anheuser-Busch Sends Drinking Water to Communities Affected by Flooding
Anheuser-Busch is sending canned drinking water to Oklahoma and Missouri residents amid severe flooding and storms through the region.
“Anheuser is delivering three truckloads–more than 150,000 cans–of emergency drinking water to support local communities in Missouri and Oklahoma impacted by the devastating flooding,” the company said in a press release May 27.
The flooding in the Midwest is expected to continue as major rivers are expected to reach record levels, leading to even more damage in the communities already affected such as Oklahoma and Missouri.
According to Fox 35, the water was canned at the company’s brewery in Cartersville, Ga. The brewery is one of two, the other facility is in Fort Collins, Colo. The facility pauses beer production to produce canned water periodically throughout the year, according to Fox 35.
“For over 30 years, we have worked with the American Red Cross to provide emergency drinking water to our neighbors during times of need,” said Bill Bradley, Anheuser-Busch’s vice president of community affairs. “Applying our production and logistics expertise to deliver clean, safe drinking water is the best way we can lend a hand in our communities during these unimaginable situations.”
Anheuser-Busch distributors in Oklahoma and Missouri plan to work with the American Red Cross to allocate water to those in the region. According to Fox 35, the company sent more than 100,000 cans of water to victims of the Nebraska flooding in March, and 300,000 cans were given to areas affected by Hurricane Florence in August 2018. The brewery also paused production to can water for Hurricane Harvey victims in 2017.
According to Fox 35, the company has donated more than 80 million cans to disaster-relief efforts since their partnership with the American Red Cross began in 1988.
