Telvent and Schneider Conclude Brand Integration
As of Dec. 1, 2012, Telvent is now officially known as Schneider Electric, concluding a year-long brand integration process after Schneider Electric acquired Telvent in 2011. What does the synchronization of these two brands really mean? The combination of Schneider Electric’s capabilities in hardware and infrastructure with Telvent’s IT solutions creates a single-source provider for the needs of the water industry.
Optimizing limited water resources is a challenge faced across the globe, and utilities are under pressure to operate more efficiently, lower operating costs and enhance satisfaction. Solutions for water utilities, including the SmartWater Network and Stormwater Management Solutions, are enhanced solutions now available through our joint offering.
The SmartWater Network allows a utility to take advantage of all the information their system generates to provide enhanced automated process control and fully process real-time data to save water and labor costs, optimize compliance and security and assure quality customer service. Each and every water management activity creates data that can reveal valuable network operations and business insight. The SmartWater Network from Schneider Electric helps users transform a massive amount of data into actionable and usable information.
Stormwater Management Solutions provide accurate modeling of storm water and wastewater processes and the predicted effects of weather on urban drainage systems, allowing utilities to respond quickly to critical events. Urban areas in particular are extremely sensitive to weather-driven events due to the characteristics of their soil, land uses and high population density. Flooding preparedness and storm water management are critical elements to any community’s crisis response plan.
Flooding and storm response depends on accurate weather forecasts. Schneider Electric offers weather forecasting solutions to complement their solutions. Telvent’s weather forecasting systems have been independently ranked number one for accuracy for the past five years in a row. Forecasts are updated hourly, with a team of more than 50 meteorologists providing consultation 24/7—the only provider in the industry to provide online consulting services.
By combining the infrastructure expertise of Schneider Electric with the software and IT resources of Telvent, one company is now capable of integrating the entire value chain. This merger will impact the way that water utilities can effectively manage and utilize limited resources. Having one company provide a comprehensive set of solutions allows for smart and secure operations.
