OHM Advisors has launched InfraSmart, a new digital platform designed to help public agencies improve regulatory compliance, capital planning and rate sufficiency assessments through a single, interactive dashboard.

Traditionally, asset management plans and rate studies are updated infrequently – often only every five years to meet regulatory requirements. InfraSmart addresses that gap by providing real-time data visualization tools that allow utilities to continuously analyze infrastructure conditions, financial forecasts and rate impacts.

“Public officials widely recognize the importance of protecting water sources and updating aging infrastructure,” said Murat Ulasir, practice leader for infrastructure planning at OHM Advisors, in a press release. “With advanced technology making on-demand data insights more accessible, agencies that adopt these tools are better equipped to tackle these challenges effectively. InfraSmart fosters a more structured and informed approach, enhancing collaboration, compliance and transparency.”

The platform helps municipalities:

  • Strengthen budget forecasts by modeling capital improvement plan impacts on cash flow and debt coverage.

  • Improve infrastructure planning by monitoring asset performance and regulatory compliance metrics.

  • Enhance public transparency with data-driven insights into rates, asset conditions, and financial sustainability.

  • Reduce long-term costs through more efficient updates to asset management plans and optimized capital spending.

Several Michigan cities, including Milan, have already adopted InfraSmart to enhance communication and utility management, with additional municipalities expected to follow.

OHM Advisors said the platform will continue to evolve based on user feedback, expanding its ability to help communities optimize infrastructure investments and long-term resource allocation.
