Manchester City F.C. and Xylem Inc. have launched a new YouTube series, Rainmakers, showcasing a stormwater capture and reuse project in Teotihuacan, Mexico, developed in partnership with Love.Fútbol. The initiative, timed with World Water Day, features a football pitch designed to collect, store and reuse rainwater, providing both a recreational space and a supplemental water resource for a community of nearly 60,000 residents.

The system includes a solar-powered pump capable of moving more than 27,000 liters of water per day, demonstrating how decentralized stormwater infrastructure can support water security in underserved areas. “The Rainmakers project is a compelling example of how our partnership with Manchester City translates purpose into action,” said Javier Martin, head of Brand & Partnerships at Xylem, in a press release. “It is about creating tangible, lasting impact - capturing and reusing rainwater in a way that benefits communities and contributes to a more water-secure future.”

The project is part of a broader collaboration between the two organizations focused on water efficiency and reuse. At Manchester City’s training facilities, Xylem technologies have enabled full irrigation self-sufficiency using non-potable water, with early results indicating savings of approximately 100 million liters over two years. “This initiative reflects what our partnership with Xylem is all about—using our shared strengths to make a lasting difference in communities around the world,” said Tom Pitchon, director of Corporate Social Responsibility, in a press release.
