Grand Canyon eases water restrictions as aging system challenges persist
Grand Canyon National Park will begin easing water conservation measures on the South Rim starting April 17 following progress on repairs to its aging water pipeline, though officials warn the system remains vulnerable to future disruptions.
The park’s legacy water infrastructure continues to operate under constrained conditions, with the risk of additional pipeline breaks still present. While concessionaire lodging will return to full capacity, several restrictions remain in place, including fire bans and limited camping services without potable water access.
Park officials are urging visitors and residents to continue conserving water through measures such as limiting shower use, reducing water waste and reporting leaks.
