Pennsylvania awards funding for projects with stormwater improvements

Pennsylvania awarded $134.4 million in grants for 100 southwestern projects, including park, medical center and development work with stormwater improvements.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced $134.4 million in grants for 100 projects across southwestern Pennsylvania, including several developments with stormwater infrastructure improvements.

The funding is part of nearly $445 million awarded statewide through the Commonwealth’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which supports design, acquisition and construction projects intended to promote economic development and improve community infrastructure.

Among the stormwater-related awards, Allegheny County’s Boyce Park Pool project will receive $1 million for facility reconstruction that includes stormwater systems. A medical center development in Pittsburgh will receive $350,000 for construction, site improvements, utilities and stormwater management. The Pine Park Parking Lot Expansion project will receive $752,120 for a 129-space parking lot with stormwater controls, erosion management and landscaping.

Other funded projects include a $750,000 industrial park warehouse development in Beaver County that includes stormwater infrastructure and a $1.38 million workforce housing site development in Bedford County with stormwater systems and erosion controls.

RACP grants are reimbursement-based and support projects with regional or multi-jurisdictional impacts. The program is administered by the Governor’s Office of the Budget.
