Webinar to Address Green Infrastructure in Champaign, Ill.
Registration has opened for the webinar "Improving Campustown: Using Green Infrastructure to Mitigate Flooding." Rick Hitchcock, senior principal, and Mark Underwood, principal, of Hitchcock Design Group will discuss green infrastructure improvements in Champaign, Ill. The educational event will take place Aug. 1, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. EST.
For decades, the Campustown neighborhood near the highly channelized Boneyard Creek was subject to frequent and significant flooding. As part of comprehensive watershed improvement and related neighborhood redevelopment strategies, city leaders constructed extensive storm water improvement projects at Scott Park and the Second Street Basin. Webinar participants will learn how the improvements have substantially reduced flooding, increased water quality, added valuable community space, connected neighborhoods, and stimulated private sector investment and redevelopment.
Participants will earn one Professional Development Hour (PDH). Register here.
