Parsons Brinckerhoff will design the new CSO tunnel

Citizens Energy Group has selected Parsons Brinckerhoff to design a new combined sewer overflow (CSO) tunnel in downtown Indianapolis.

The Lower Pogues Run Tunnel Project is one of five major components of a federally mandated 25-mile, deep-rock storage tunnel system, referred to as Dig Indy, intended to capture and convey CSO for treatment at the Southport wastewater treatment plant in Indianapolis. The Lower Pogues Run Tunnel Project includes approximately 2 miles of 18-ft finished diameter deep-rock tunnel that will receive flows from six existing primary CSO outfall structures in downtown Indianapolis. Parsons Brinckerhoff is responsible for preparation of an advanced facility plan and detailed design of the tunnel project. The advanced facility plan report is expected to be completed by the end of 2013. Detailed design is scheduled for completion by the end of 2015 with construction slated for completion in 2021.
