Beijing Drainage Awards Contract for Drainage Project

Beijing Drainage Group (BDG) awarded a $2.9 million contract to Xylem Inc. for the installation of Xylem’s Flygt pumps in 19 pumping stations in downtown Beijing.

The new Flygt submersible centrifugal sewage pumps will improve the stations’ water storage capability and prevent overflow by providing more efficient drainage and flood control.

“Our Flygt pumps reduce the costs associated with pump station design, excavation, civil work, installation and commissioning, while maintaining superior performance even under heavy flooding conditions,” said Shuping Lu, vice president and country director for China.

Beijing Drainage Group Co. Ltd. is a wholly state-owned wastewater utility established with the approval of the Beijing Municipal Government.
