Tetra Tech Wins $40 Million USACE Flood Risk Management Contract
Tetra Tech, Inc. announced in a press release that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Albuquerque District, awarded the company a $40 million, multiple-award assessment and engineering design contract focused on flood risk management and erosion protection, primarily in the southwestern U.S. Tetra Tech will support USACE in its mission to reduce overall flood risk by improving the resiliency of structures such as levees and floodwalls, which protect the public and improve the natural environment.
Under this five year contract, Tetra Tech’s engineers will conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, river and groundwater modeling, climate change evaluations, geomorphic assessments and sediment transport analyses. The company will design flood control structures to optimize water resources and reduce streambank erosion.
“Tetra Tech has worked continuously with the USACE Albuquerque District since 1998, providing comprehensive water resources engineering support,” said Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO Dan Batrack. “We have successfully completed more than 50 projects within the district’s footprint, and we look forward to our continued support to the district in designing resilient flood control structures.”

East Coast Erosion Control Receives “Transformation and Operational Excellence Award”
The South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) has awarded East Coast Erosion Control with the Transformation and Operational Excellence Award. The award was presented to East Coast Erosion in recognition of “demonstrating to the business community real world, bottom line results achieved through the adoption of continuous improvement and/or operational excellence tools and techniques;” specifically, for internal development projects aimed to increase the system management, tracking and quality control capabilities of key equipment.
In addition to improving the system management and tracking, East Coast Erosion Control efforts identified opportunities to improve the operational flow within the facility. These efforts presented widespread advantages ranging from reduced waste, to maximizing labor efficiency and increasing production. This doubled production in the facility while maintaining current staffing levels.
“Erosion control best practices in today’s world require quality and steadfast attention to every step of the process,” said President of East Coast Erosion Control Diane Smith. “We’re confident that we are making great strides to innovate and create facilities that set the pace in the industry.”
