Work under the $12 million contract will begin immediately
Feb. 24, 2015

Abtech Holdings Inc. has received from the commissioner of public works of Nassau County, N.Y., a notice to proceed with completion of the engineering design services for the first county-owned storm water site to be outfitted with a storm water treatment device under the $12 million NTE (not-to-exceed) storm water management contract (Number S8201002D) awarded to AbTech by Nassau County in October 2013. Work will commence immediately on the site located beneath Marjorie Lane, East Rockaway in Bay Park Long Island, N.Y.

"A key issue facing communities in Nassau is the unmitigated storm water runoff and flooding from backflow through the 2,600 County-owned outfall pipes. AbTech's solution is a cost-effective, rapid-deployment water quality treatment system that addresses flooding where necessary by designing the systems to prevent 'reverse' flow and impede storm water contamination, including bacteria, oils/greases, trash, debris and sediment, before entering waterways,” said Glenn Rink, founder and CEO of AbTech. “Contamination is blocked from accumulating on beaches, harming marine life and, importantly, affecting public health. We are extremely eager to complete this phase of the project and look forward to showcasing AbTech's capabilities.”
