Maharashtra
Located in western India, Maharashtra is the country’s second-largest state. The capital is Mumbai (formerly called Bombay). With an area of nearly 308,000 km2 and a population of about 79 million, the state is divided into 30 districts and has 720 km of coastline along the Arabian Sea.
