March 12, 2014-Hanes Geo Components of Winston Salem, NC, has introduced a new sediment control device for use as a construction best management practice (BMP). The Inlet Pro Sediment Bag is manufactured from a woven polypropylene geotextile, and is specifically designed to help retain the sediment and debris that can become dislodged and suspended in stormwater flows during rain events on a construction project.

During construction, the bags are installed in stormwater catch basins for parking lots, medians, along streetscapes, etc.to filter and trap suspended solids; when construction is completed, they are typically removed and reinstalled on another project. Utilizing this form of stormwater inlet protection can reduce the potential impacts of sedimentation and helps to protect our rivers and streams.

The Inlet Pro Bag was highlighted recently in Nashville, TN, at Environmental Connection 2014, the annual conference and exposition of the International Erosion Control Association.
