Stormwater Duo Teams Up for PPPs in Northeast US

Aug. 23, 2014

A speciality engineering and technology firm and a PPP project management firm have signed an agreement aimed at expanding the role of PPPs in US stormwater projects.

AbTech Holdings and Corvias Solutions last week announced a deal to use AbTech’s specialised stormwater absorption technology in Corvias’s $100 million 30-year stormwater PPP pilot in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Corvias and AbTech now plan to team up to export the stormwater PPP model used in Prince George’s County to cities in the Northeast which experience combined sewer overflows and discharges caused by excessive stormwater levels, and which have historically addressed these problems with costly storage tunnels and other greywater infrastructure projects.

This is the latest development in the nation’s budding stormwater PPP landscape. AbTech announced in July 2013 a $12 million DBO contract in Nassau County, New York, while Corvias announced the Prince George’s County pilot contract in January 2014.
