Minneapolis, MN, May 16, 2017— The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has issued approval of the Keystone KeySystem II retaining wall system for use by the department on state and federal highways.

KeySystem II is designed to the highest standards and unique requirements of the transportation sector. The system consists of Keystone Compac III units and TenCate Miragrid geogrids by TenCate Geosynthetics. Under the department’s Specification Section 548: Retaining Wall Systems, KeySystem II is approved as a “segmental block FDOT wall type 4A and 4B (permanent). The system is to be used with TenCate Miragrid 3XT, 5XT, 7XT, 8XT or 10XT only.”

To date, Keystone’s product is the only SRW block system to earn approval by FDOT. KeySystem is manufactured by Keystone licensee Tremron, a leading supplier and manufacturer of concrete products for the hardscape industry in southeastern United States. Tremron has manufacturing facilities in Jacksonville and Lakeland, Florida, and Douglasville, Georgia. It has design centers and installer showrooms throughout the region.

Florida’s transportation system statistics illustrate its scale, scope and complexity. The state is the third most-populated in the country and has 122,659 highway miles, 20 commercial airports, 31 urban transit systems, 15 seaports, and two spaceports. Improving the safety and security of the transportation system is among the state’s highest commitments to its residents and visitors.
