Green Roofs for Healthy Cities announced Ontario Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Glen R. Murray, MPP, will be a keynote speaker at Grey to Green 2016: Addressing Climate Change with Green Infrastructure.

The Ontario Government is planning a multi-billion dollar program to invest in actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including a shift to electric vehicles and greener buildings and communities. Grey to Green is June 1 to 4 in Toronto and will focus on the many positive impacts of green infrastructure on climate change. Murray will speak about his government’s efforts to address climate change June 3.

Green infrastructure includes a variety of living technologies including urban forests, parks, green roofs and walls, wetlands and bioswales.  In the US, many governments have begun investing billions of dollars in green infrastructure to help offset climate change impacts such as the urban heat island effect and flooding from extreme weather events.

The Grey to Green Conference is organized by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and the Green Infrastructure Foundation. Our partners include: Ryerson University, Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition, Conservation Ontario, Renew Magazine, Water Canada, Landscape Ontario, Insurance Bureau of Canada, city of Toronto, OMAFRA, Credit Valley Conservation Authority,  Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Tremco, Liveroof, XeroFlor Canada, Gingko Sustainability, Azure Magazine, TEA, DIALOG, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, Carrot Green Roof, Greenroofs.com, and Ontario Association of Landscape Architects.

A live web cast of the first day of the proceedings, June 2 is available for purchase, and registration is available online. Media passes for Grey to Green are also available.
