Clearlake, Calif., Warns of Water Contamination

Rain, flooding cause sewage leak
Jan. 9, 2017

The Clearlake, Calif., Police Department has issued a road closure due to rain and flooding and has reported on a separate sewage leak in another part of the city. The mayor is asking residents to use particular caution as the storms continue.

Due to a sewage leak, police said people should assume water in the area is contaminated. Anyone or anything that comes in contact with the water should be cleaned thoroughly and immediately. Clearlake Public Works staff and first responders are out helping as needed and directed in response to the storm and flooding.

“I would simply ask that our residents, neighbors and guests would only go out if absolutely necessary. If an emergency exists and they must drive, please travel slowly and safely,” said Mayor Russ Perdock. “Please be patient and safe until the storm subsides.”
