MWRD Executive Director Resigns
David St. Pierre resigned from the role of executive director of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD). St. Pierre has worked with MWRD since June 20, 2011, and oversaw approximately 2,000 employees on an annual budget of $1.2 billion.
"It has been an honor to serve as your Executive Director. The MWRD staff is the best I have had the privilege of serving,” St. Pierre said. “Together, we have seen tremendous improvements in water quality and protected thousands of residents from flooding. I appreciate the tremendous support of the Board of Commissioners and trust MWRD will continue in the great tradition of service that has been established since 1889. I wish everyone the best. My experience will always remain as some of the best seven years of my life."
ASTM Intl. Award Recognizes Profile Products Development Director
Profile Products announced that Dr. Michael D. Robeson, P.E., CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI, received the Standards Development Award and the Special Service Award from Committee D18 on Soil and Rock as part of ASTW Intl., an international standards development organization.
Robeson, the research and development director with Profile Products, has more than 20 years of experience in erosion control and storm water management. Robeson has been an active member of the International Erosion Control Assn. since 1998 and is actively involved in the ASTM Intl. committees on erosion and sediment control, as well as geosynthetics.
Award Recognizes Bentley Engineer
Bentley Systems announced that Thomas Walski, Ph.D. P.E., F. ASCE, F. EWRI has received the Civil Engineer of the Year 2017 award from the American Society of Civil Engineers, Lehigh Valley Section (LV-ASCE). The award is given annually to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions of a civil engineer to the engineering profession, to the education and support of younger and future engineers, and to the community.
Since 2000, Dr. Walski has served as a senior product manager and research fellow for Bentley Systems. He is co-holder of several patents in hydraulic analysis, and his research in the water industry has resulted in significant improvements in engineering practices in applied hydraulics. Additionally, Dr. Walski has authored or contributed to more than 25 reference books and more than 100 conference presentations and journal papers.
