EPA Report Addresses Climate Change on Storm Water Management

Discussions with Chesapeake Bay and Great Lakes region communities inform methods and solutions
June 10, 2016

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Air, Climate and Energy (ACE) research program released a report on climate change as it relates to the Great Lakes region and Chesapeake Bay.

As temperatures increase and precipitation patterns change, communities in the U.S. are starting conversation about how to address climate change in their particular area. Changing conditions can impact storm water management and future land use for infrastructure improvements or construction. Climate change can also impact local water conditions.

Communities in the Chesapeake Bay and Great Lakes regions are discussing green infrastructure and low impact development projects to address storm water management.

The report provides tools, methods and actions to aid storm water managers and decision makers to find solutions to storm water issues in their communities and how climate change should be included in storm water management plants.
