Colorado Springs Agrees on Major Storm Water Project Funding
A tentative intergovernmental agreement for storm water projects in Colorado was reached after around one year of negotiations, according to a report from The Gazette.
In audits of Colorado Springs’ storm water program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency noted upgrades were necessary for compliance, and according to the newspaper report, the EPA would have likely sued the city for failure to meet standards.
The EPA would have also restricted the city’s permit allowing introduction of storm water to a regional water system. The agreement April 11 alleviates those concerns.
A full article detailing the concerns of residents and officials leading up to the agreement is on The Gazette's website.
